Eric Dunlop selected as candidate for Whitchurch by-election9.20.30am BST (GMT +0100) Sat 22nd Sep 2007
Eric Dunlop has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate to contest the by-election in Whitchurch for a seat on Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council caused by the sudden death of Alison Wall. Eric was born and grew up in Whitchurch. He had a career in electrical engineering and facilities management for large companies. As a young man he also played guitar as a session musician for Pye Recording Studios. Since retiring in 2000, Eric has worked part-time as a surveyor and planning consultant. In 1986, after two years as Town Mayor of Whitchurch, Eric Dunlop became the second Liberal to be elected as Borough Councillor for Whitchurch. Eric served for eight years alongside Tommy Brooks and stood down from the Council in 1994. He has continued his public service as a Governor of Testbourne Community School. Eric Dunlop can be contacted on 01256 893513 or email: e.d.services@btinternet.com
