Fast start to Andover petition on council tax10.37.02am GMT Mon 26th Jan 2004 A Liberal Democrat petition to scrap the council tax and replace it with a fairer alternative got off to a fast start last Saturday by Andover Guildhall. In less than two hours, 115 Andover residents backed the local Liberal Democrat campaign.
Martin Tod, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for North West Hampshire commented "We were very pleased to see so many people back this campaign so quickly. At times, people were queuing to sign the petition. The council tax is very unpopular and hits pensioners particularly hard. We were getting support from all ages." The campaign is also being run in other towns and villages across the North West Hampshire constituency, including Whitchurch, Tadley and Overton. You can join in this campaign by signing our petition online, or you can download a petition form, get your friends and family to add their support and post it to the address at the bottom (See the Related Links on this page).
